The Subsidiary Body on Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice (SBSTTA) is a crucial supporting mechanism underpinning negotiation and implementation processes for the Convention on Biological Diversity (UN CBD) and its associated protocols. It is an organ that consolidates multidisciplinary expertise in an effort to provide accurate assessments, recommendations and clarifications that support the work of all Convention Parties. On an annual basis, the body’s representatives gather to deliberate on critical scientific aspects of biodiversity governance. This year, the 27th consecutive such meeting (SBSTTA-27) is set to take place in Panama City between 20 and 24 October.
In anticipation of the important discussions that will take place in this format, CO-OP4CBD is once again organising an online training dedicated to specific topics set to be addressed at the event. This follows similar sessions the project put together in the run-up to SBSTTA-26 and SBSTTA-25. At their core, the trainings are designed to supply expert and up-to-date knowledge to those interested in engaging with experts, stakeholders and other parties as part of the SBSTTA meetings.
The imminent CO-OP4CBD training on SBSTTA-27 agenda items will incorporate a number of events, each with a distinct topical focus. You can find the full list, including the respective speakers and virtual meeting links, below:
