Between 4 and 5 June 2025, Brussels will host the next joint conference of the Transformative Change Cluster of EU-funded projects. Nine members of the group, namely CLEVER, BioValue, RAINFOREST, BAMBOO, Bedrock, BIONEXT, BIOTraCes, BioAgora and TRANSPATH, are coming together as organisers of the event. The topic at the centre of proceedings will be “Mainstreaming Biodiversity in Policy-Making”, a crucial aspect of the projects’ efforts to enhance the biosphere-centric science-policy interface in Europe. The participation of decision-makers, scientists, business leaders and civil society actors is expected at the conference, Together, they will discuss why and how accounting for biodiversity factors should occur in European governance processes and mechanisms.
Agenda-wise, 4 June will see a variety of presentations outlining the core building blocks of the biodiversity SPI. Approaches to evaluate biodiversity impacts, develop effective conservation pathways and advance policy through transformative planning and governance will be front and centre in this context.
The insights from this first day will subsequently be synthesised as topics of dedicated panel sessions on 5 June. An open and inclusive online format has been chosen for this segment of the programme in an endeavour to reach actionable conclusions on where biodiversity is to be incorporated within the EU governance mainstream. The live-stream can be accessed via a prior registration.
