CO-OP4CBD's partners from the Transformative Change Cluster of EU-funded projects recently joined efforts in the conference “Mainstreaming Biodiversity in Policy-Making”. Taking place on 4 and 5 June in Brussels, the event served as a continuation of a workshop that was held for the Cluster at the premises of the European Commission on 3 June.
The projects behind the conference were BioAgora, CLEVER, BioValue, RAINFOREST, BAMBOO, Bedrock, BIONEXT, BIOTraCes and TRANSPATH. The need for actionable knowledge in support of the biodiversity science-policy-society interface (SPSI) was at the core of their collaboration during the extensive two-day programme.
Diversity was found among attendees as decision-making and research institutions, the business sector and civil society were all represented on site and online. This paved the way for an inclusive deliberation process on why biodiversity should establish itself in EU policy in a more concrete, institutionalised manner.
