The French Museum For Natural History (MNHN), supported by the Norwegian Institute for Nature Research (NINA), is set to organise an in-person training session for traditional ecological knowledge (TEK) holders and experts between 11 and 12 June 2025. Held within the scope of the CO-OP4CBD project, the event is set to take place in Trondheim, Norway.
The training will focus on the role of TEK holders and experts in the Convention on Biological Diversity's (CBD) governance and processes. The CBD governance and support structures to be explored include:
-
the newly established subsidiary body for Indigenous People and Local Communities;
-
the Subsiadiry Body on Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice (SBSTTA);
-
the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES);
A core aim behind the event is to provide some practical advice on strengthening the participation and mobilisation of TEK holders as well as civil society and academia closely engaged in TEK within CBD processes. This effort will be supported by dedicated practical exercises as part of the training.
If you are a TEK holder or expert interested in the CBD processes, or you are already involved and would like to deepen your understanding, you can register via this form. Please note that the travel, accommodation and meal expenses incurred by attendees in relation to the training will be covered by CO-OP4CBD.
