CO-OP4CBD coordinator Constance Laureau discusses the biodiversity Science-Policy Interface on the ARTE channel

09 Jun 2025

The biodiversity Science-Policy Interface (SPI), a topic at the heart of the CO-OP4CBD project, was centre stage during a recent interview given by the project’s coordinator Constance Laureau (FRB) on French television. More specifically, she appeared in a news bulletin for ARTE, a public service channel dedicated to culture and science.

The interview was part of a report on marine fauna and its conservation in the international context. An emphasis was placed on collaborative research, with a testament to its importance being presented in the form of a migratory connectivity data study and software developed by the MiCO consortium.

A link was then made between such endeavours and international biodiversity governance, with the former said to have a critical role in informing the latter. It is namely in this context that CO-OP4CBD’s coordinator outlined the importance of integrating the insights of science into policy. The Conference of Parties (COP) of the Convention on Biological Diversity (UN CBD) was cited as a format allowing for this crucial interaction to occur.

The full interview can be accessed here (available at the time interval 10:56-14:12). You can also find out more about CO-OP4CBD’s involvement at COP16 Colombia on this page.
