The Cali Fund is celebrating its first anniversary

The Cali Fund, the mechanism developed to enable the fair and equitable sharing of the private-sector contributions linked to the commercial use of Digital Sequence Information on genetic resources (DSI), is celebrating its first anniversary with the launch of its official logo as well as its website and social media channels.

The Cali Fund is a partnership between the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (UN CBD), the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). Launched on 25 February 2025, it is the first multilateral mechanism designed to mobilise private-sector contributions linked to the commercial use of Digital Sequence Information on genetic resources (DSI). By receiving contributions from private companies that use publicly available DSI, the Cali Fund redistributes these resources to indigenous peoples and local communities in both developing and developed countries, thus ensuring that those who need support, can access resources..

To mark this anniversary, the Cali Fund’s social media presence was launched with its LinkedIn page, followed by the launch of its logo and website in March. Through these channels, a wide range of stakeholders will have the opportunity to engage with the Cali Fund and stay updated on its progress.
