BioValue has officially concluded
The Horizon Europe project BioValue concluded in September 2025.
Coordinated by the Instituto Superior Técnico (IST-ID), the project brought together eight partners from Portugal, Germany, Denmark and Italy to explore how biodiversity can be embedded as a value in spatial planning and policymaking.
Since its beginning in July 2022, the consortium worked on three Arenas for Transformation:
- Rewetting Peatlands and Reforestation: Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Federal State, Germany
- Municipal Spatial Planning: Mafra Municipality, Portugal
- The Fersina, regenerating an urban river: Trento Municipality, Italy
Through its three case studies, researchers experimented with new planning instruments, participatory methods and multi-level governance approaches, as the results can inspire future projects and local initiatives.
Over BioValue’s lifetime, numerous open resources were created, including infopacks, policy briefs and a scientific publication. As the project ended, final resources were shared publicly:
- a comprehensive Technical brochure
- a final video, sharing valuable insights, methods and frameworks from its case studies.
